Same-day GE appliance repair in Irvine and across Orange County, seven days a week. We repair GE, GE Profile, Cafe and Monogram refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, wall ovens and microwaves: a refrigerator that stopped cooling with the compressor silent, a top-load washer that will not start, a dishwasher with a dead control panel. The service call is $79, it covers the trip and the diagnosis, and it is applied to the repair once you approve the written price for parts and labor.
GE Appliances is based in Louisville, Kentucky, and has been owned by Haier since 2016. The electronics changed more than the cabinets: recent GE refrigerators run an inverter compressor driven by an inverter board, the current top-load washers drive the basket through a motor control board, and the dishwashers split the logic between a main control board and a user interface board in the door. That is where most of the faults are, so a GE repair is more often a board than a bearing. Two write-ups show it: a GE refrigerator in Costa Mesa with a burned-out inverter and a GE washer in Mission Viejo with a failed inverter board and door lock.
The four lines share platforms. GE is the base line, GE Profile adds features on the same chassis, Cafe is the customizable line with its own hardware finishes and now covers laundry as well as the kitchen, and Monogram is the built-in line: refrigerator columns, built-in side-by-side and bottom-freezer models, professional ranges, wall ovens, dishwashers and microwaves. Common GE parts are on the van; the rest come from local distributors, usually the next business day.

Common GE problems and how we fix them
GE refrigerator not cooling, compressor silent or clicking
Likely causes: an inverter board that no longer drives the compressor, a compressor that has failed and taken the inverter with it, a failed evaporator fan, a defrost failure that iced the coil, or a refrigerant leak.
Try this first: listen at the back for the compressor. Lights on and fans running but no compressor hum points to the inverter or the compressor; a sheet of frost on the freezer back wall points to defrost.
How we fix it: we test the inverter output and the compressor windings separately, because the board is the affordable repair and the compressor is not. The GE refrigerator in Costa Mesa needed only the inverter; the GE Monogram with a refrigerant leak needed sealed-system work, done in-house.
GE top-load washer will not start, lid lock blinking or stuck on sensing
Likely causes: a lid lock the control cannot confirm, a failed inverter or motor control board, a main board that no longer powers the motor, or a blocked drain pump.
Try this first: unplug the washer for five minutes and try an empty spin. If the lid locks and the basket never moves, it is the board, the motor, the belt or the mode shifter, and the stored codes usually tell us which; if the lid lock light blinks and never locks, it is the lock or the strike.
How we fix it: we read the stored codes, test the lock, the motor windings and the board outputs and replace what failed. The GE washer in Mission Viejo needed an inverter board and a door lock; the GE washer that would not start a control board and a lock.
GE dryer squealing, grinding or thumping
Likely causes: a worn rear drum bearing, worn front drum slides, a dry idler pulley, a cracked blower wheel or a worn belt; some newer models use drum rollers instead of slides. On the classic GE design the rear bearing and the front slides wear out together.
Try this first: empty the drum and run it. A squeal that changes when you press on the door is the front slides or the bearing; a thump that matches drum speed is the belt or, on roller models, a flat-spotted roller.
How we fix it: we replace the bearing, the slides (or rollers), the idler and the belt as a set, as on the GE dryer in Lake Forest with both bearings failed.
GE dishwasher will not turn on, or stops before the cycle ends
Likely causes: an interface board with a failed touch pad or a wet connector, a main control board, a door latch switch, a drain pump that times out, or a heater fault that ends the cycle early.
Try this first: switch the breaker off for five minutes, press the door firmly closed and check that the control lock is off. If the panel lights but no button works, it is the interface board; if nothing lights, check the outlet under the sink.
How we fix it: we test the interface, the main board, the latch and the pumps and replace what failed: the GE dishwasher in Lake Forest that would not turn on and the GE dishwasher in San Clemente that would not finish a cycle were both boards.
GE or Monogram microwave runs but does not heat
Likely causes: a failed magnetron, a shorted high-voltage diode or capacitor, a door switch, or a board relay.
Try this first: heat a cup of water for one minute. If the light and turntable work but the water stays cold, stop there: the high-voltage section holds a lethal charge even unplugged.
How we fix it: we discharge the capacitor, test the magnetron, diode and switches, replace the failed part and check the door switches and seal, as on the GE Monogram microwave that needed a magnetron.
GE oven not heating or showing an F-code
Likely causes: a weak bake igniter on a gas oven, a burned bake element on an electric one, a temperature sensor out of range, a door lock stuck after self-clean, or a control board with a failed relay.
Try this first: write down the code, then switch the breaker off for five minutes. A code that returns as soon as you set bake is a sensor or a board; an igniter that glows for over a minute without the burner lighting is the igniter.
How we fix it: we measure the igniter current or the element resistance, check the sensor and test the board relays, then replace the failed part. Our GE oven error code guide explains each F-code.

What GE repair costs
The service call is $79. It covers the trip and the diagnosis and is applied to the repair when you approve the written price for parts and labor, which does not change. The affordable end is a lid lock, a door lock, a thermal fuse, an igniter, an evaporator fan or a dryer bearing kit; the middle an inverter or interface board, a drain pump, an ice maker, a heating element or a magnetron; the expensive end a compressor, a Cafe or Monogram main board and sealed-system work. We test the part before we quote it, so you do not pay for a compressor when the inverter board is the fault. Seniors and veterans get 20% off and repeat customers 15% off.
Repair or replace a GE appliance?
A GE refrigerator under eight or ten years with a failed inverter board, fan or defrost part is an easy yes. A failed compressor is a judgment call: we do the sealed-system work in-house, and on a Cafe or Monogram column it is almost always worth it. On a basic top-freezer past twelve years it usually is not, and we say so before you spend more than the $79.
GE top-load washers with a failed board or lid lock, GE dryers with worn bearings and GE dishwashers with a failed interface board are all worth repairing. Monogram built-ins are made to be serviced in place for decades, and replacing one means cabinetry work, so repair is the default.
GE error codes
GE ranges and wall ovens show F-codes on the display: F2 for an oven that overheated, F3 and F4 for an open or shorted temperature sensor, F7 for a stuck key. The code names the circuit, not the part; an F2 can be a sensor, a relay or a real overheat. Our GE oven error code guide goes through them. GE washers and dishwashers store codes too; some show them on the display, most are read in a service mode, so on those we go by the symptom and the test.
How a GE service call works
- Call or book. Call (949) 544-5550 or book online with the appliance, the symptom and any code; same-day slots are available across Orange County, seven days a week.
- Diagnose. The technician runs the appliance, reads any stored codes and tests the part the symptom points to. The $79 covers this and is applied to the repair.
- Written price. One price for parts and labor, given before anything is replaced; it does not change.
- Repair. Common parts are on the van; others come from local distributors, usually the next business day.
- Warranty. The repair is under warranty on parts and labor, and a return visit for the same problem within 90 days has no service-call fee.

GE appliance repair FAQ
How much does GE appliance repair cost in Orange County?
The service call is $79 and is applied to the repair. Locks, fuses, igniters, fans and bearing kits are the affordable end; boards, pumps and magnetrons the middle; compressors and sealed-system work the expensive end. You approve a written price before any work starts.
Do you repair GE Profile, Cafe and Monogram appliances?
Yes, all four lines. Common parts are on the van, and anything else comes from local distributors, usually the next business day. Monogram sealed-system work is done in-house.
Can you come the same day for a GE refrigerator that stopped cooling?
Usually, yes. A refrigerator that stopped cooling is a same-day call seven days a week across Orange County. Keep the doors closed until we arrive.
What warranty comes with a GE repair?
The repair carries a warranty on parts and labor. Should the same fault return within 90 days, we come back with no service-call fee.
Do you carry GE parts on the van?
Common parts such as lid locks, thermal fuses and igniters are usually on the van. Anything we do not carry comes from local distributors, usually the next business day, and we tell you that on the first visit.
My GE refrigerator clicks every few minutes and the compressor will not start. Is the compressor dead?
Not necessarily. On an older conventional compressor a click every few minutes is the start relay and overload cycling, and the relay is often the fault. On an inverter model the compressor may be good and the inverter board unable to start it, and the board is the affordable repair. We test the board and the compressor separately before we quote anything.
Why does the lid lock light blink on my GE top-load washer and the washer not start?
The control tried to lock the lid and could not confirm it. Unplug the washer for five minutes and try again; if it still blinks, the lid lock or the strike has failed or the board is not seeing the lock. We test all three on the first visit.
