Range & Cooktop Repair in Irvine & Orange County

Range and cooktop repair in Irvine and across Orange County, with same-day appointments Monday to Saturday. We repair gas, electric and induction cooktops and freestanding, slide-in and dual-fuel ranges: burners that will not light or keep clicking, elements that will not heat, induction errors, gas smells, and ranges whose oven or controls have failed. KitchenAid, GE, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Electrolux, Bosch, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Dacor and every other brand. The diagnostic visit is $79, applied to the repair when you approve it, and you get a firm price before any work starts.
Cooktop repairs are usually quick once the cause is found: a spark igniter or spark module on a gas burner, a radiant element or infinite switch on an electric one, a coil or power board on induction. Gas work is where experience matters most, because a burner that is reassembled wrong or a valve that seeps is a safety problem, not an inconvenience. Our customers rate us 5.0 out of 5 on Google across more than 60 reviews.

Common range and cooktop problems and how we fix them
Gas burner will not light, or keeps clicking
Likely causes: a wet or dirty spark igniter, a burner cap put back off-center after cleaning, a cracked igniter, a failed spark module, a stuck igniter switch on one knob that keeps every burner clicking, or a clogged burner port.
Try this first: dry the burner completely after a boil-over, lift the cap and set it back down so it sits flat, and clean the ports with a pin. If all burners click when one knob is turned, one igniter switch is stuck.
How we fix it: we replace the igniter, the switch or the spark module and clean the burner assembly so it lights on the first click.
Gas burner lights but the flame is weak, yellow or uneven
Likely causes: clogged burner ports, a burner head that is misaligned, a valve that is not opening fully, or a regulator problem on the range.
Try this first: clean the burner head and ports and reseat the cap. A yellow, sooty flame on every burner points to the regulator or the air mixture and needs a technician.
How we fix it: we clean or replace the burner, replace the valve or regulator and set the flame.
Smell of gas from the cooktop or range
Likely causes: a seeping burner valve, a loose or cracked fitting behind the range, a burner that was left on without lighting, or a leak at the regulator or manifold.
Try this first: turn all knobs off, open a window, and if the smell is strong, shut the gas valve behind the range and call the gas company. Do not use the cooktop until it is checked.
How we fix it: we leak-test the valves, manifold and fittings with a detector and soap solution and replace the leaking part, as in this KitchenAid gas cooktop leak in Villa Park.
Electric burner or radiant element not heating
Likely causes: a burned-out radiant element or coil, a failed infinite switch or control, a bad terminal block on a coil cooktop, a failed element relay board, or one lost leg of the 240-volt supply.
Try this first: on a coil cooktop, swap the dead coil with a working one of the same size; if the problem moves, it is the coil. Reset the breaker fully off and on.
How we fix it: we test the element, the switch and the board and replace the failed part, as in this Electrolux range burner in Orange.
Induction cooktop not detecting the pan, or showing an error
Likely causes: cookware that is not magnetic, a pan smaller than the zone, a failed induction coil, a failed power or control board, a cooling fan that stopped so the unit shuts down, or an overheated zone.
Try this first: hold a magnet to the pan bottom; if it does not stick, the pan will not work on induction. Make sure the vents under the cooktop are not blocked by drawers or stored items.
How we fix it: we read the error code, test the coils, the fan and the boards, and replace what failed. Induction boards are expensive parts, and we tell you the price before ordering.
Glass cooktop cracked, or knobs and controls not working
Likely causes: impact or a pot dragged across a hot surface for the glass; worn valve stems, broken knobs, a failed touch control or a failed membrane for the controls.
Try this first: stop using a cracked glass top; liquid through the crack reaches live elements. A knob that turns freely has a broken valve stem or knob insert.
How we fix it: we replace the glass top where the part is available, or the valve, knob or control. On a range we also repair the oven side; see oven repair.

Wolf, Viking, Thermador and other professional ranges
A 36-inch or 48-inch professional range is a long-term appliance, and the parts that fail on it are the same ones that fail on any gas range, only better built: spark igniters and modules, burner valves, oven igniters, thermostats and door hinges. We repair Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Dacor, Bertazzoni, BlueStar, Monogram and Miele ranges in Irvine, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and across the county, and a repair on one of these is almost always worth doing. See the Viking repair page.
What a range or cooktop repair costs in Orange County
Every visit starts with a $79 diagnostic. That covers the trip and the diagnosis, and it is applied to the repair when you approve it. After the diagnosis you get one firm price for the part and the labor, and that price does not change once the work starts. If the cooktop is not worth repairing, we say so and you pay only the $79.
| Repair | Typical price, parts and labor |
|---|---|
| Bake or broil element | $180 to $320 |
| Gas oven igniter | $200 to $350 |
| Temperature sensor | $160 to $280 |
| Burner spark igniter or switch | $160 to $300 |
| Spark module | $200 to $350 |
| Convection fan motor | $220 to $400 |
| Oven gas safety valve | $250 to $500 |
| Door hinges or gasket | $180 to $320 |
| Electronic control board | $300 to $700 |
| Induction power board or coil | $350 to $800 |
Typical Orange County ranges for parts and labor on common models; the service call is $79 and is applied to any of them. Built-in, professional and commercial units, and parts that have to come from the manufacturer, can run higher. You get the exact written price after the diagnosis and before any work starts.
What the repair costs depends on the part. Spark igniters, igniter switches, coil elements, knobs and infinite switches are the affordable end. Spark modules, radiant elements, burner valves and regulators are the middle. Induction coils and power boards, touch controls and a glass top are the expensive end, and we tell you where your repair sits before you decide.
Seniors and veterans get 20% off, and repeat customers get 15% off. Mention it when you book.
Repair or replace?
A gas cooktop or range with a failed igniter, switch, valve or module is worth repairing at any age; the parts are modest and the rest of the appliance has nothing to wear out. A professional range is worth repairing for decades. The closer call is an older budget induction or glass cooktop that needs a power board and a glass top at the same time, and we tell you that before ordering anything.
Gas safety
If you smell gas, turn the knobs off, open a window and shut the valve behind the range. Do not light anything. If the smell is strong or does not clear, call the gas company first and us second. We do not run or connect new gas lines; the range must already be connected. For a cooktop that keeps clicking, lights late with a whump, or has a yellow flame, book a visit rather than living with it.
How a range or cooktop repair visit goes
- Book. Call (949) 544-5550 or book online. Same-day appointments are available across Orange County, Monday to Saturday.
- Diagnose. The technician tests the ignition, the valves, the elements or the induction boards, and leak-tests gas connections. The $79 diagnostic is applied to the repair.
- Approve. You get a firm price for parts and labor before anything is replaced.
- Repair. Igniters, switches, modules and elements for the major brands are on the van, so most repairs are completed on the first visit. Induction boards, glass tops and luxury-brand parts are usually installed the next business day.
- Warranty. Parts and labor on the repair are under warranty. If the same problem comes back within 90 days, the return visit has no diagnostic fee.

Range and cooktop repair FAQ
How much does cooktop repair cost in Orange County?
The diagnostic visit is $79 and is applied to the repair. Igniters, switches, knobs and coil elements are the affordable end; spark modules, radiant elements and valves the middle; induction boards, touch controls and glass tops the expensive end. You get a firm price before any work starts.
Why does my gas burner keep clicking?
Usually moisture or food on the igniter after a boil-over, a burner cap sitting off-center, or one stuck igniter switch. Dry and reseat the burner first. If it still clicks, the igniter or switch needs replacing.
Do you repair Wolf, Viking and Thermador ranges?
Yes. Professional ranges are a regular part of our work, and a repair on one is almost always worth doing. See our Viking repair page.
Do you repair induction cooktops?
Yes, including Bosch, Samsung, GE, Café, Thermador and Wolf induction. We test the coils, fan and boards and quote the part before ordering, since induction boards are expensive.
Do you install or connect gas ranges?
No. We repair ranges and cooktops that are already connected. Gas line work is for a licensed plumber or the gas company.
I smell gas from my cooktop. What should I do?
Turn the knobs off, open a window and shut the gas valve behind the range. If the smell is strong, call the gas company. Then book a visit; we leak-test the valves and fittings and replace the leaking part.
Can you replace a cracked glass cooktop?
Yes, where the manufacturer still supplies the glass top. We quote it before ordering, and we tell you when a new cooktop would cost less.
What warranty do you give on a range or cooktop repair?
Parts and labor on the repair are under warranty. If the same problem returns within 90 days, the return visit has no diagnostic fee.
