Laundry is the second-largest part of our work after refrigerators, and 26 of our published case notes are washers and dryers from Irvine, Orange, Newport Beach, Santa Ana, Cypress, Brea, Costa Mesa, Westminster and Tustin. The van carries drain pumps, door locks, inlet valves, suspension rods, igniters, flame sensors, thermal fuses, belts and drum rollers for the major brands, which is why most laundry repairs are finished on the first visit. Our customers rate us 5.0 out of 5 on Google across more than 60 reviews.

Common washer problems and how we fix them
Washer not draining, clothes soaking wet
Likely causes: a coin, sock or hair clip in the drain pump, a clogged pump filter, a failed drain pump, a kinked drain hose or a clogged standpipe.
Try this first: on a front-loader, open the small door at the bottom front and clean the pump filter (have towels ready). Check that the drain hose is not kinked behind the machine.
How we fix it: we clear the pump and the hose, test the pump under load and replace it if it has failed, as in this Kenmore drain pump replacement and this drain pump fix.
Washer not spinning or not finishing the cycle
Likely causes: worn shock absorbers or dampers that let the drum hit the cabinet so the machine keeps rebalancing, a failed door lock, a drive motor or inverter board, a worn belt or a lid switch on a top-loader.
Try this first: rebalance the load and run a spin-only cycle. If an unbalanced-load code (UE, Ub, UL) appears with a small load, the suspension is worn.
How we fix it: we check the suspension, the lock, the motor and the control, and replace the failed part. Recent examples: an LG in Newport Beach with worn dampers and a GE with a failed inverter board and door lock.
Washer leaking water
Likely causes: a torn door boot on a front-loader, a cracked drain pump filter housing, a split inlet hose, a leaking inlet valve, or a tub seal.
Try this first: note where the water appears. Water at the front during the wash is the door boot; water at the back at any time is usually the hoses or the valve; water from underneath during drain is the pump or its filter housing.
How we fix it: we replace the boot, the valve, the hoses or the pump housing. Two recent Samsung jobs: a torn door boot in Irvine and a cracked drain filter in Orange.
Washer shaking, walking or banging during spin
Likely causes: worn suspension rods on a top-loader, worn shocks or dampers on a front-loader, a machine that is not level, or shipping bolts that were never removed from a new front-loader.
Try this first: check that all four feet touch the floor and the machine does not rock. On a new front-loader, confirm the shipping bolts at the back were removed.
How we fix it: we replace the suspension rods or dampers as a set and level the machine, as in this Maytag in Cypress and this violently shaking washer.
Door will not lock, will not unlock, or washer will not start
Likely causes: a failed door lock assembly or latch, a control board that does not see the lock, a failed user interface, or a lid switch on a top-loader.
Try this first: turn the breaker off for five minutes; many washers release the lock on power-up. Do not force the door with clothes inside.
How we fix it: we test the lock, the latch and the control, and replace the failed one. See the Whirlpool door lock in Brea, the door latch in Costa Mesa, the GE control board and lock and the LG control panel.
Front-load washer smells bad
Likely causes: mold in the door boot, residue from too much detergent or fabric softener, a clogged pump filter, or a drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe so it siphons sewer air.
Try this first: run a hot cycle with a washer cleaner, wipe the inside fold of the door boot, use less detergent and leave the door open between loads.
How we fix it: when the boot is black with mold that will not clean off, we replace it, as in this moldy door gasket replacement.
Common dryer problems and how we fix them
Dryer runs but does not heat
Likely causes: on a gas dryer, a failed igniter, flame sensor or gas valve coils; on an electric dryer, a burned heating element, a blown thermal fuse, a failed high-limit thermostat, or one tripped leg of the 240-volt breaker.
Try this first: reset the dryer breaker fully off and on. On an electric dryer, a motor that runs with no heat is often one tripped leg. Clean the lint screen and check that the vent outside opens when the dryer runs.
How we fix it: we test the ignition system or the heater circuit and replace the failed part. Recent examples: a Maytag in Santa Ana with failed gas valve coils and an LG with a failed igniter and flame sensor.
Clothes take two or three cycles to dry
Likely causes: a blocked dryer vent, a crushed flexible duct behind the dryer, a lint-packed blower housing, a weak gas valve or heating element, or a failed moisture sensor.
Try this first: pull the dryer out and look at the duct. If it is crushed or the outside flap does not open when the dryer runs, airflow is the problem. A vent that has not been cleaned in years is also a fire risk.
How we fix it: we clear the blower and the duct at the dryer, test the heat and the sensor, and tell you if the run to the roof needs a vent-cleaning company. See this dryer that needed three cycles and this clogged vent and blower.
Dryer squealing, thumping or grinding
Likely causes: worn drum rollers, a worn idler pulley, failed drum bearings, a cracked blower wheel, or a worn belt.
Try this first: empty the drum and run it; a thump that matches the drum speed is a roller or a flat spot in the belt; a high squeal is usually the idler or the rear bearing.
How we fix it: we replace rollers, idler and belt as a kit, or the bearing or blower wheel. Examples: GE dryer with both bearings failed, worn rollers in Irvine and a blower wheel in Newport Beach.
Dryer will not start
Likely causes: a failed door switch, a blown thermal fuse, a failed start switch or control, a broken belt with a belt switch that stops the motor, or a failed drive motor.
Try this first: check the breaker and that the door clicks shut. If the drum turns freely by hand but nothing happens on start, the switch, fuse or motor is the usual cause.
How we fix it: we test the switch, the fuse, the control and the motor, and replace the failed part. See the Maytag door switch in Westminster and the Whirlpool dryer with a failed motor.
Burning smell or dryer getting very hot
Likely causes: lint on the heater or motor, a failed blower motor, a blocked vent that lets the drum overheat, or a failed cycling thermostat.
Try this first: stop using the dryer. A burning smell with a blocked vent is how laundry-room fires start.
How we fix it: we clean the heater and blower housing, test the motor and the thermostats, and restore airflow, as in this Samsung dryer with a burning smell.

What a washer or dryer repair costs in Orange County
Every visit starts with a $79 diagnostic. That covers the trip and the diagnosis, and it is applied to the repair when you approve it. After the diagnosis you get one firm price for the part and the labor, and that price does not change once the work starts. If the machine is not worth repairing, we say so and you pay only the $79.

Typical Orange County ranges for parts and labor on common models; the service call is $79 and is applied to any of them. Built-in, professional and commercial units, and parts that have to come from the manufacturer, can run higher. You get the exact written price after the diagnosis and before any work starts.
What the repair costs depends on the part. On dryers, thermal fuses, thermostats, igniters, flame sensors, belts, rollers and door switches are the affordable end, and a drive motor or control board costs more. On washers, drain pumps, door locks, inlet valves and suspension parts are the affordable end; a drive motor, an inverter board or drum bearings on a front-loader cost more. We tell you where your repair sits before you decide.

Repair or replace?
A washer or dryer under about ten years old with one failed part is worth repairing. Dryers in particular are simple machines that run for twenty years on new rollers, belts and igniters. The exception is a front-load washer with failed drum bearings on a budget model, where the labor comes close to the price of a new machine; we tell you that on the spot. Speed Queen, Bosch, Miele and the better LG and Whirlpool models are worth repairing for much longer.
Dryer vents and fire safety
Orange County has thousands of two-story homes where the dryer vent runs twenty feet or more to the roof. When the duct packs with lint, the dryer runs hot, dries slowly and eventually burns the heater or the motor; worse, lint on a hot heater is the leading cause of dryer fires. We clear the blower and the duct at the dryer on every slow-drying call and tell you when the full run needs cleaning.
How a washer or dryer repair visit goes
- Book. Call (949) 544-5550 or book online. Same-day appointments are available across Orange County, Monday to Saturday.
- Diagnose. The technician runs the machine, reads the fault memory, and tests the pump, lock, motor and controls on a washer, or the heat, airflow and drive on a dryer. The $79 diagnostic is applied to the repair.
- Approve. You get a firm price for parts and labor before anything is replaced.
- Repair. The common laundry parts for LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, Maytag, GE and Kenmore are on the van, so most repairs are completed on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered, it is usually installed the next business day.
- Warranty. Parts and labor on the repair are under warranty. If the same problem comes back within 90 days, the return visit has no diagnostic fee.

Washer and dryer repair FAQ
How much does washer or dryer repair cost in Orange County?
The diagnostic visit is $79 and is applied to the repair. Fuses, thermostats, igniters, belts, rollers, pumps, locks and valves are the affordable end; motors, inverter boards and front-load drum bearings cost more. You get a firm price before any work starts.
Why is my dryer running but not heating?
On a gas dryer it is usually the igniter, the flame sensor or the gas valve coils. On an electric dryer it is the heating element, the thermal fuse or one tripped leg of the 240-volt breaker. Reset the breaker fully and check the vent before you book.
Why will my front-load washer not drain?
Most often something caught in the drain pump or its filter, or a failed pump. Clean the filter behind the small door at the bottom front, then run a drain cycle. If it still does not drain, the pump has likely failed.
Do you repair gas dryers?
Yes. Igniters, flame sensors, gas valve coils and thermostats on gas dryers are everyday repairs for us. We do not run new gas lines; the dryer must already be connected.
Do you repair LG WashTower and stacked washer-dryer units?
Yes, including stacked laundry centers and the LG WashTower and Samsung Bespoke stacks. Access takes longer on stacked units, and the price you get up front already accounts for that.
My washer door is locked with clothes inside. What do I do?
Turn the breaker off for five minutes and back on; most washers release the lock on power-up. If it stays locked, do not force it. We open the door without damaging it and replace the lock.
Do you clean dryer vents?
We clear the blower and the duct at the dryer as part of a slow-drying repair, and tell you when the full run to the roof needs a vent-cleaning company.
What warranty do you give on a washer or dryer repair?
Parts and labor on the repair are under warranty. If the same problem returns within 90 days, the return visit has no diagnostic fee.
