Samsung Appliance Repair in Irvine and Orange County

Samsung Refrigerator Leaking Water: Defrost Fix — Cactus Appliance, Orange County CA

Same-day Samsung appliance repair in Irvine, Santa Ana, Anaheim and every other city in Orange County, Monday to Saturday. We repair Samsung refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges and microwaves, including the Bespoke and Family Hub lines. The service call is $79. It covers the trip and the diagnosis, and it is applied to the repair when you approve it. Before any work starts you get a written price for parts and labor, and that price does not change.

Samsung appliances are a regular part of our schedule, and the faults repeat. On the French-door refrigerators the ice maker in the ice room of the fresh-food compartment frosts over, stops dropping ice and drips when the frost melts; the lasting fix is in the ice-room seal and the defrost path, not a new ice maker alone. On the twin-cooling models a failed defrost sensor or heater buries the evaporator in frost, so the fresh-food section warms while the freezer still freezes. Two such visits are written up in Samsung refrigerator leaking water: defrost fix and a Samsung drain line repair in Tustin.

On the laundry side, Samsung front-load washers wear through the door boot and, on older drums, crack the spider arm; the dryers lose the heating element or a thermistor; the dishwashers show LC (leak sensor wet) and 5C (not draining) more than any other code. Common parts such as thermistors, drain pumps and heating elements are usually on the van; the rest comes from a local distributor, usually the next business day.

Samsung appliances we repair

  • Refrigerators: French-door, side-by-side, bottom-freezer and top-freezer, Bespoke and Family Hub. Frozen ice makers, frost on the back wall, a warm fresh-food section, water under the drawers, a noisy evaporator fan, a compressor or inverter that will not start.
  • Front-load washers: torn door boots, cracked drain filter housings, drain pumps, door locks, spider arm and bearing failures that roar on spin, control boards that stop responding.
  • Top-load washers: suspension rods that let the tub bang, lid locks, drain pumps, clutch and motor faults, fill valves that never shut.
  • Dryers: electric and gas. No heat from a failed element, thermistor or thermal fuse, long cycles from a blocked vent, squeals from the idler pulley and rollers, a motor or blower that smells of burning.
  • Dishwashers: Waterwall, Bespoke and the standard DW80 series. LC leak-sensor trips, 5C drain errors, 4C fill errors, heaters, wash pumps and touch panels.
  • Ranges and cooktops: gas and electric, slide-in and freestanding. Oven igniters and bake elements, temperature sensors, burner switches, spark modules and touch controls.
  • Over-the-range microwaves: not heating, no light or fan, door switch faults.

Common Samsung problems and how we fix them

Samsung refrigerator ice maker frozen or not making ice

Likely causes: moist air entering the ice room through a gap in its seal or a loose duct, so frost builds until the ejector cannot turn; a frozen fill tube; a failed auger motor; an ice maker that has quit.

Try this first: remove the ice bucket, leave the ice-room door open and let the frost thaw onto towels. If ice returns and the frost is back within a few weeks, the ice room is leaking air and a thaw alone will not hold.

How we fix it: we thaw the ice room, seal the gaps around the duct and cover, test the fill tube heater and the auger motor, and replace the ice maker only when it has failed. On most French-door models the sealing is what stops the problem from coming back.

Samsung refrigerator not cooling while the freezer stays cold

Likely causes: on twin-cooling models the fresh-food section has its own evaporator, and when the defrost sensor, heater or control stops running defrost, it ices into a block and the fan has nothing to blow through. A dead evaporator fan motor gives the same symptom without the frost.

Try this first: empty the fresh-food side, unplug the refrigerator and leave the doors open for a day. Cooling that comes back and fails again a few weeks later is a defrost fault.

How we fix it: we open the back panel, test the sensor, heater and fan under power, and replace the one that failed. The defrost repair we wrote up started as water on the floor and ended in the defrost system.

Samsung refrigerator leaking water inside or onto the floor

Likely causes: a frozen or clogged defrost drain, so meltwater runs forward under the crisper drawers; a cracked drain pan; a split ice maker fill tube; a water inlet valve or a loose fitting on the line behind the unit.

Try this first: pull the crisper drawers and look for ice in the trough at the back wall. Water only after a defrost cycle is the drain; water behind the refrigerator with the ice maker off is the supply line or the valve.

How we fix it: we clear the drain and its trap, thaw the line, fit the drain clip or heater the model calls for, and replace the valve or fill tube when they are the source. The Tustin drain line repair is the usual version.

Samsung washer leaking water

Likely causes: a torn door boot on a front-loader, a cracked drain filter housing, a drain pump leaking at its seal, a split fill hose, or too much detergent foaming out of the dispenser.

Try this first: look inside the boot folds for a tear and check the floor under the front corner after a drain, where the pump and filter sit. Halve the detergent dose for one cycle and see whether the leak follows the suds.

How we fix it: we run the washer and watch where the water appears, then replace the boot, filter housing, pump or hose. Both versions are written up: a torn door seal replaced in Irvine and a cracked drain filter.

Samsung dryer not heating or smelling of burning

Likely causes: an open heating element, a thermistor reading wrong, a thermal fuse or high-limit that tripped because the vent is blocked, and on gas models an igniter or flame sensor. A burning smell with lint is usually the vent; without lint it is often the motor or the blower wheel.

Try this first: clean the lint screen, pull the dryer out and check the vent hose for crushing and packed lint, then run a timed-dry cycle and feel for heat.

How we fix it: we test the element, thermistor and fuses, check the vent airflow and replace what failed. The burning-smell call we wrote up turned out to be the motor and the blower, not the heater.

Samsung dishwasher showing LC or 5C

Likely causes: LC means the moisture sensor in the base is wet, from a door gasket, a sump seal, a drain hose fitting or foam from the wrong detergent. 5C means water is still in the tub after the drain pump ran: a clogged filter, a disposal knockout plug, or a failed pump.

Try this first: for LC, switch the breaker off, let the base dry overnight and run a cycle with dishwasher detergent only. For 5C, clean the cylinder filter and check the drain hose and the disposal knockout.

How we fix it: we pull the dishwasher, find the wet trail or test the pump under power, and replace the part that caused it. The common Samsung dishwasher codes are explained in our Samsung dishwasher error code guide.

What Samsung repair costs

The service call is $79 anywhere in Orange County. It pays for the trip and the diagnosis, and when you approve the repair it comes off the repair price. You get one written price for the part and the labor, and it is the same price when the job is done. On Samsung appliances the affordable end is a thermistor, a thermal fuse, a door lock or a cleared drain; the middle is a defrost heater and sensor, a drain pump, a heating element, a door boot or an ice maker; the expensive end is a drum bearing or spider arm job, a compressor or inverter, or a main control board. If the price does not make sense for the age of the appliance we say so, and you pay only the $79.

RepairTypical price, parts and labor
Refrigerator defrost system, fan motor or ice maker$220 to $450
Refrigerator compressor or refrigerant leak (sealed system)$600 to $1,800
Washer drain pump, door lock or suspension$180 to $400
Washer motor, inverter board or bearings$350 to $800
Dryer heating element, igniter, fuse or rollers$150 to $350
Dishwasher drain pump, valve or latch$170 to $350
Dishwasher wash pump or control board$300 to $600
Oven igniter, element or sensor$160 to $350
Oven or range control board$300 to $700

Typical Orange County ranges for parts and labor on common models; the service call is $79 and is applied to any of them. Built-in, professional and commercial units, and parts that have to come from the manufacturer, can run higher. You get the exact written price after the diagnosis and before any work starts.

Repair or replace a Samsung appliance?

A Samsung refrigerator under ten years old with a defrost fault, a bad fan, a leaking drain or a frozen ice maker is worth repairing; the parts are modest and the rest of the unit is usually sound. A compressor or inverter failure past eight or nine years is where we give you the number and let you weigh it against a new one, because the job sits at the expensive end even though we do sealed-system work in-house. Front-load washers follow the same logic: a boot, a pump or a door lock is an easy yes, a bearing or spider arm on a washer past its eighth year is usually a no. Dryers are usually worth fixing. Control boards are the exception everywhere: available, they are a middle-tier repair; discontinued, the decision is made for you.

Samsung error codes

Samsung washers, dryers and dishwashers show a two-character code, and since about 2015 the suffix has been C rather than E, so 4C and 4E on a washer mean the same thing. Refrigerators and ranges use longer codes such as 22E, 84C or C-20. Each appliance has its own guide with the codes, their meaning and what you can safely check: Samsung refrigerator error codes, Samsung washer error codes, Samsung dryer error codes, Samsung dishwasher error codes and Samsung oven and range error codes.

How a Samsung service call works

  1. Call or book online. Call (949) 544-5550 or book online with the appliance, the symptom and any code on the display. Same-day slots are available across Orange County Monday to Saturday.
  2. Diagnose. The technician reproduces the fault, reads the stored diagnostic data and tests the suspect part rather than guessing from the code. This is the $79 service call.
  3. Written price. One price for parts and labor, in writing, before anything is replaced, with the $79 taken off it.
  4. Repair. Common parts are on the van. A part we have to order comes from a local distributor, usually the next business day.
  5. Warranty. Parts and labor are under warranty. If the same fault comes back within 90 days, the return visit has no service-call fee.

Samsung appliance repair FAQ

How much does Samsung appliance repair cost in Orange County?

The service call is $79 and is applied to the repair. Thermistors, fuses and door locks are the affordable end; defrost parts, drain pumps, heating elements, door boots and ice makers are the middle; bearings, compressors and control boards are the expensive end. You approve a written price before any work starts.

Do you repair Samsung refrigerators with a frozen ice maker?

Yes, it is one of the most common Samsung calls we take. We thaw the ice room, seal the air gaps that let frost form, test the fill tube and auger, and replace the ice maker only when it has actually failed.

Can you come today?

Usually, yes. Same-day appointments run across Orange County Monday to Saturday when a slot is open; otherwise the next day.

What warranty do you give on a Samsung repair?

Parts and labor on the repair are under warranty. If the same problem returns within 90 days, the return visit has no service-call fee.

Do you carry Samsung parts, or do you have to order them?

Common parts such as thermistors, thermal fuses and drain pumps are usually on the van. Anything else comes from a local distributor, usually the next business day.

Do you repair Samsung appliances in Santa Ana and Anaheim?

Yes. Both are inside our Orange County service area, with the same $79 service call and same-day availability as everywhere else we go.

Do you repair Bespoke and Family Hub refrigerators?

Yes. Under the panels and the screen they use the same cooling, defrost and ice systems as the other Samsung French-door models, and those are the parts that fail.
